Buckling is one of the important criteria to be checked in silo design. Buckling behaviour of
silos can be analyzed with finite element methods or analytical methods which are developed
for cylindrical shells.
In this study, buckling analysis of a silo which is also supporting another structure is analyzed
with eigenvalue solution by using finite element method and one of these analytical methods.
The results obtained by using these two methods are compared.

Calculations tab contains some type of calculators. Like as cone development calculator, ellipsoidal head blank diamaeter calculator as per ASME Seciton VIII Division 1, long welding neck flange weight calculator, piston rod buckling calculator etc.
These calculators are coded by me during my works and I will share with you. If you have any question please don't hesitate to contact me.
If you design a storage tank before, you are familiar with API 650 code. This code used for design of welded steel tanks for oil storage.
API 650 2007 Edition is valid now, but if you want to use this version, you must beware twice. Because, this edition has many misprints especially at Seismic Section. Also, with this edition the seismic section was completely changed. Before this edition, API used UBC 1997 code for seismic calculations. After this edition, API changed to ASCE 2005 for seismic and wind calculations.
API has not issued yet any addendum or errata for this edition.
But, they prepared a draft addendum document for 2007 Edition. If you want to use API 650 2007 Edition, you must read Addendum 1. Please note that, this addendum is in draft issue!
